No business

At the same time, i arrived at Marine Parade. But then, i sat at the fruit stall for almost 2hrs, because it was raining and there's no point setting up the stall. Sat there, played with phone and waited for the pour to be lighter. The guy who played the boomerang was peeling an apple. In my mind i thought that, he was going to give it to me. And guess what?! He really did gave me half of an apple to eat. Hehe... Oh, and I happene to know his name, because the lady at the fruit stall asked him to help me move stuff to the kiosk. His name is Fredrick or Ferderick (whichever spelling is right). Once again, thank you for assisting me to move the stuff over, if not i would had to make two trips. By the way, i started work at 1330hrs and that's very late.

Actually, i had the crave to eat muahchee today, unfortunately the muahchee auntie did not open stall for business. Best thing was, I did not have my lunch! Time passed quite quickly, and it was already 4+pm and not a single thing was sold! Can you believe it?! The only time I got to do business was when this malay father came with his little daughter to look at the Starblades. And yeah, he bought a Starblade for his daughter. It was a bad day for business, so to say. Many people stopped by and asked about the prices about the stuff, but none bought them. This auntie got me irritated. The situation went like this:
Auntie:How much is this? (referring to a 10-piece floor mat)
Me:Er, $5.
Auntie:How many pieces are there?
Me:10 pieces
Auntie:Wah! So expensive arh?! (then walks off)

Hello...!!! I haven't even complete what I want to say and she walked off. Seriously speaking, it's not easy to be a sales promoter. Oh well, forget it. Anyway, I was supposed to clinch a deal in the morning, but due to the rain, I wasn't able to successfully do that. But the person came back before I shut the booth. She said that she'll be back once she draw money. I slowly cleared up and waited for her, but she was not seen after 30mins and so I closed the stall. At the end of the day, I only managed to sell 2 Starblades, thus my day's wage was a miserable $22. $20 for basic pay + $2 for 2 Starblades sold. Tomorrow's the 4th day of work and 3 more to go. Hang in there....

Working under wet weather conditions

I'm tired. But I've just got too much to say tonight, so I'll just have to blog first then continue my nightly routine.

As usual, I went to the fruit stall to pick up the goods. And oh, guess who I met at the fruit stall?? It's none other than... (drum rolls) the guy who played with the boomerang yesterday! Oh yeah, he's actually working at the fruit stall. Gee.. I was so totally surprised to see him there. Anyway, it was very nice of him to help me push the rack all the way from the stall to my booth. (Thank you!) Before I even set up everything, this foreign man came and was preparing to pay for the boomerang. I was like:"WOW! I haven't even display my stuff and you want to buy." Ah well, it was good money earned. Then came this boy with his mother. Played with the boomerang for a while and I think he and his mother found it interesting, and so there's another deal clinched.

Time was close to 1pm, and the skies were turning grey. Drip by drip and drop by drop the rain came down. I tried to clear the things on display as fast as I could, and I hid behind the booth, cause it's the only place where I could get shelter. The raining times of the day were on and off. And so you could sort of imagine how many times I clear the stuff to prevent it from getting wet. Sure it was tiring... The bottom of my pants were soaking wet! They were heavy and felt yucky too... But I endured it all...

People
Once again, I saw familiar faces walking pass where I stood. Among them were 2 of my ex-classmates, present sacians, my Y Ren Wang friend (Cecilia), this boy whom was once my primary school mate and this family whom my parents know, who were from the old church. Oh, and I came across this chinese teacher who once taught me in primary school. Sure it was a day of meeting people.

Sales
I started work at 1100hrs, and by 2pm I had $40++. Not bad for a start. But it's just that the rain spoilt the opportunities to better sales. The very last customer I had before I packed up, she bought like 3 sets of 10 pieces of floor mat, and a 16 piece set of number floor mat. After that she picked up another 7 animal hats. The things she bought, totalled to about $35!! And on top of that, she may even place order for more animal hats. Wow!! And before that, there was this China teacher who asked if the masks had other animals too. This deal was even better. She spoke to my Boss and told him that she may want to place an order for the masks. Wow!! I guess my Boss should be happy to hear that, there are people who want to purchase in bulk. End of the day's sales excceeded $100!! SP said that I'm suitable for this job, coz I sold more items and earned a little bit more than them. Oh, whatever.. I'm glad that I've got a job. Although it's really uncertain about my earnings for the day, still it's my hard-earned money. I would say once again, it's the experience that counts, not the money.

This leaves me to rest. Till again, do stay tune for more of happenings at work.

Work starts

Was just on time to meet my friend at the bus stop outside sweet secrets. Walked to a fruit stall to pick up the goods. Setting up the stall was fun, had to open the shutters, that's all. By the way, it's a booth stall and it's not in Parkway Parade shopping mall. Thank God that there was light drizzle. Thank God for giving me perserverance and strength to stand for 8hours. Thank you WeiMing for assisiting me to packing up.

Target was not met. At least, 3 were sold, as well as some floor mats were also sold. The boomerang was easy to throw, but it hardly returns back right in front of you. I'm no expert like WeiMing.. Haha... Lots of people walked pass. Students, mothers, grannies, familiar faces that i know.... But it was this guy who caught my attention. I'm not sure whether or not he was local. He came up to me and asked for one boomerang and he started throwing it. I would say, he was not that bad... I stood there and I watched, and was so impressed by his throwing. Such a pity that my friend left a bit early, thus missed the "performance".

What really bothered me was my thoughts about how (i would say) irresponsible they were. We all 5 agreed that we'll tend a stall together, but guess what?? All the rest of the 4 will not be working anymore!! I wasn't really happy after I heard that from SP. Just because they weren't able to earn much and they call it quits? Excuse me, the company sort of took us in as there pioneer batch of sales promoters, and yet you gals find it a hard job. *Laughs Out Loud* Where on Earth there's a job could let you earn money as easy as 123? I was already being nice to start work today, but who knows that they already told (i suppose) WeiMing that they quit. I asked myself and God:"Why did I have these friends??" Were they right in the first place? Oh yeah, thank you (sacarstically) Linette for popping by the stall.. You were of great help... Frankly speaking, I'm contented with this job i have right now. The pay might be uncertain, but it's all the experience I get. ;-) I just cannot understand why people are that greedy.

Gee... and this leaves me with day 1 of work all by myself at the stall. 4 more solo shows to go, but at least I get to pocket half of the sales procceeds. That's the advantage of doing alone. Anyway, I earned $33 today. I look forward to a better tomorrow. Oh, I forgotten to say something... Grannies are the best people on Earth...

Powerhouse reborn

Boy boy... Sure is early for 2003's first Powerhouse worship. Got up and sent Prissie a sms, fearing that she might be the late comer. But our dearest Prissie-dent was ready to leave her home!! Haha... Then again, basement sanctuary was still abit empty at 0915. Was wondering where are the people?? Chairs were pushed back, empty front and from the entrance, people started to walk in. So exciting... Sad to say that it's so early that I suppose most of them were still semi-awake. The new Sec Ones were fitting into Powerhouse. Worship was good. It would be much better if the people moved a little bit closer to the worship leader, coz everyone was standing all the way at the back. (C'mon people! Move front!)

CG was good. Talked about highs and lows of 2002, committments and promises for 2003. Well, I hope everything goes well... I'm starting work tomorrow... My target: To sell 7 Starblades. The amount will increase everytime I go to work.. The more i sell, the more i will earn.

Good luck to me at Parkway....
